Harding Township Civic Association to Host 2025 Memorial Day Parade Honoring Veterans

The Harding Township Civic Association is proud to announce that it will once again sponsor the annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26, 2025, to honor the men and women who have given their lives in service to the United States, as well as all veterans in the Harding community.
The parade will step off promptly at 9:30 AM from Harding Middle School on Lee’s Hill Road, proceeding east along Lee’s Hill Road to Village Road, and culminating at Memorial Park, directly across from the New Vernon Firehouse. A solemn memorial ceremony will begin immediately following the parade’s arrival at the park with featured speaker Mona Shaw, a Gold Star mother.
Community members are invited to participate in the parade. Groups wishing to march are encouraged to email [email protected] and assemble at Harding Middle School by 9:00 AM on Memorial Day. Alternatively, participants can confirm their involvement by contacting Gwenn Claytor at [email protected].
This year’s festivities will include fire trucks, bands, horses, and a children’s patriotic bike brigade. Children are invited to decorate their bicycles, wagons, and scooters in red, white, and blue (helmets required) for the chance to win prizes in two categories: 7 years and under and over 7 years old.
“This is a true community celebration where residents of all ages come together to honor those who have served and sacrificed,” said a spokesperson for the Harding Township Civic Association. “Bring your children, grandparents, neighbors—and even your leashed pets—for this meaningful day of remembrance.”
In case of inclement weather, the parade will be canceled, but the ceremony will still take place indoors at Firehouse 1 at 10:00 AM.
Calling All Veterans
The 2025 Memorial Day Parade will pay special tribute to all U.S. veterans. Veterans are encouraged to attend, and transportation will be provided for them during the parade. During the ceremony, each veteran will be individually recognized by name, branch, unit, and years of service.
Veterans interested in participating should email [email protected] so arrangements can be made in advance.
“This is Harding’s way of saying thank you to those who have served and to highlight the spirit of volunteerism that defines our town,” said the event organizers.
