Venture outdoors on a crisp afternoon and experience the fabulous fall colors. We will take you on a journey through the trails of Jockey Hollow and identify the many varieties of trees and plants as they begin to prepare for a long winter’s nap. We will also talk about how winter will change this landscape and how it might have looked for the Continental Army soldiers who were stationed there during the winter of 1779-1780. Before the holiday rush begins, take some time out for yourself on this relaxing fall hike. Feel the leaves crunch under your feet and breathe in the fresh autumn air as we walk the trails of Jockey Hollow. Your hike leader, Adam Palmer, will help identify the many varieties of trees, plants, and animals found in these woods. He will also discuss the significance of this national park that served as an encampment site for George Washington’s army in the winter of 1779-1780.
